ADAM O’FARRILL’S BIRD BLOWN OUT OF LATITUDE

Bird Blown Out of Latitude is an electro-acoustic nonet formed by trumpeter and composer Adam O'Farrill, combining influences such as jazz, electronic, classical, and film music. The music is a reflection on the feeling of being pushed off a perceived path, or as in the name, a bird being blown in a different direction. The ensemble is comprised of some of the most distinctive young voices in music ranging across a myriad of styles. Featuring: Xavier Del Castillo (tenor sax), Russell Holzman (drums), Eva Lawitts (electric bass), David Leon (alto sax and piccolo), Luke Marantz (piano and synthesizer), Gaya Feldheim Schorr (voice), Nolan Tsang (trumpet), and Tal Yahalom (guitar)

CRUMBLING HIGHWAY Live at The Jazz Gallery

“This is a piece I wrote for my new electro-acoustic nonet, Bird Blown Out of Latitude. It was inspired by driving in New England during the fall, with my dad, and questioning our disruption of the nature we were seeing along the highways. This recording is from the ensemble’s debut performance at The Jazz Gallery, in December 2018, and they have gone on to perform at National Sawdust and Threes Brewing. “
